Nicholas Bott was born in Holland in 1941. At an early age he expressed interest in visual arts and was inspired by the works of Dutch masters, particularly Rembrant and Vincent van Gogh, as well as French Impressionists. He settled in Canada in 1958, blending his traditional European values with the influence of the Canadian Group of Seven, he developed his current style of work. Nicholas has passion for plein-air painting and spends many days in the north-western British Columbia and the Rocky Mountains. The West Coast and Vancouver Island hidden bays and small islands. Nicholas paints because he has pictorial messages to share with the viewer. He paints to express the emotions the country has inspired in him and to present the viewer with a fascinating record of the Canadian wilderness. Nicholas exhibits regularly in the Western Canada, and his work is held by numerous major corporations and private collectors around the world. Nicholas's west coast landscape oil paintings are available from the Harrison Gallery in Vancouver and the Diana Paul Gallery in Calgary. |
